Ok, so I have absolutely NO idea where the month of May went. It's been a whirlwind of store openings, gallery opening preparations, gardening, and work work work. We went upstate to Hudson, NY a few weeks back to help open a new store our friends Mary and Michael were opening. It's called foley & cox home and is absolutely STUNNING! I'm responsible for all the art; I curated the selection and am selling the work off the walls. Fingers crossed! I'll post some pics of the store soon.
The garden, by the way is looking gorgeous. I need to take some pics, but the beans are up, the tomatoes are looking good, and I have enough quirky heirloom varieties of lettuce to stock a Whole Foods!
But, what prompted me to post today was that, well, we're offically opening the gallery. It was official I guess a few weeks ago, but today it became super official and tomorrow we get the keys! Today, though, I had to prepare my Certification of Appropriateness Application for the Historic District Commission meeting in a few weeks so that they can approve the gallery's signage. The deadline was Monday (we didn't know), so I had to rush to get it together this afternoon. Got it all done. Ron said it's obvious I'm an A student and he hopes the people on the committee went to Brown - that's his way of saying I over did it, but oh well, it's the most appropriate looking Certification of Appropriateness Application I ever seen! God, I love the word Appropriateness! Second only to Specialness!
Here's one of the .jpegs that's part of the supporting documentation in pursuit of obtaining my appropriateness status. :) If you click, it will enlarge.
Anyway, the gallery, Ken Jones Jr. Fine Art, will open to the public July 3rd. The exhibition/artist reception will be July 12th from 4pm to 7pm. We're busy writing the press release and preparing the announcements, but mark you calendars now! It's going to be magical!
