Suddenly, Seemore!

Mr. Seemore Easton has been out on the town yet again! Sorry for the lag-time between posts lately, but things have been super (SUPER). Life is full; we've got the new show at the gallery, Mercantile Home is going through a huge growth spurt (the website IS coming, but I'll first be sharing our 20 Holiday Cards designs with everyone in the next day or so - that'll most likely be my next post), and Saturday is the opening of the Mercantile Home Shop-within-a-Shop - we've turned the office space into a mini-boutique! Not bad for a cottage industry (we're working our butts off, let me tell you, but having so much fun!) Life is good, and good is anything at all better than corporate! :)

Can't wait for the election to be here. Just four more days. On top of everything else, we've been hosting Obama volunteers in need of housing the past week or so, and the frequency (and number of quests) is increasing as we head to the final stretch! God, I love living in a swing state!

By the way, that's Melissa and her hubby Brian in the bottom pic - they're new friends we met through the market and gallery AND I'm the recent beneficiary of a fabulous Bernina sewing machine that was sitting collecting dust at Melissa's. Easton (and its people) just keeps on giving to us, and we keep giving back.

Mercantile Home Website - COMING SOON!

So, Mercantile Home, our line of artfully handmade home goods (notecards, blankets and linens, aprons, pillow cases, etc.) has been growing exponentially and we're in the process of getting a website up and running where you'll not only be able to see all the wonderful goodness we've been making but also have the chance to take some home for yourself, too! :) Stay tuned...

I Love Easton

Well, "the little apple" show is up and Fall is in the air (it's downright chilly outside)! Here's our $20.00 gallery shirt for the exhibit highlighting our Easton pride while making a nod towards the "BIG APPLE". More posts to come. I'm going to get caught up eventually, but life has been busy and FULL FULL FULL.

A few weeks ago, Megan from the Easton Farmer's Market became the proud parent of one of our gallery pets, the orange Mr. Raccoon you see below. Well, Mr. Raccoon, now playfully known as Seemore Easton, has been seen all over town. Here are some pics of his recent escapades, which are shared with the entire community in the Farmer's Market email blasts! It's great PR for KJJFA and Easton! We love it!

Announcing "The Little Apple"

"The Little Apple", the upcoming exhibition at Ken Jones Jr. Fine Art in Easton, Pennsylvania, will have its opening reception on Saturday, October 4th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Inspired by the historic connection between Easton and its famous "Big Apple" neighbor, "The Little Apple" will explore the apple as an icon and feature photography, paintings, and works on paper by Charlie Bidwell, Joyce Ely-Walker, Bruce Fackenthal, Josh Goldstein, William Hudders, Kathryn Lynch, Brandon Roosa, Krista Steinke, and Kevin van Aelst. The show will run through November 30th.

In the meantime, the gallery's inaugural exhibit, "Movin' On Up!", has been extended through September 28th. New work by exhibition artists has been added to the show as well as new gallery projects perfectly prepared for the end of summer.

In this month's edition of Lehigh Valley Style, arts columnist Steve Piccione had these kind words to say about Ken Jones Jr. Fine Art:

[Their] ingenious exhibits are quickly making 526 Northampton Street a destination gallery. Wisely, Jones fills the space with art for first time buyers on tight budgets as well as discerning collectors looking for investment purchases from established painters. This is a stimulating, fun environment where rigorous quality control and playful exploration combine to create a highly addictive aesthetic experience. Add this to your reasons to explore the neighborhood this weekend instead of going to Soho or Old City.

The First Gallery Opening

July Garden Update

So the beans are going crazy, the squash is out of control, and the lettuce is on it's last leg thanks to the week of 95 degree weather about three weeks ago that caused it all to bolt to the heavens. We've been eating really well, and I'l looking forward to putting out the last of my seedlings and starting a new crop of radishes, bok choi, and lettuce. Oh, and the tomatoes have out grown their stakes and are starting to climb up the fence.

The gallery's official opening weekend is coming up. The signage, the last piece of the puzzel, arrives Friday, and the party is Saturday. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and we're inviting the artists and our close friends back to our house for a grill and chill evening in the garden.

Oh, and I had my very first press interview this afternoon with an art's reporter from the Morning Call who stopped by the gallery for about two hours to chat. It looks like we're going to be in this Sunday's Art Section!! The gallery has gotten mentioned in a lot of papers already, but this will be our first article about the space. They're even sending out a photographer Friday to take our pics!
