Art for Change

This year's Art for Change fundraiser of $35.00 art benefited Easton's Safe Harbor, a transitional homeless shelter for single men and women. With over 50 submissions and a great turn-out, a brilliant time was had! In fact, the pieces went so fast, we didn't get a chance to take a pic of the installation before the began flying out the door!

Turkey Day and the Football Game

Farmer's Market and Flowers

It's hard to believe that six months have passed by and we're at the end of the 2009 Easton Farmer's Market season. Here's a snapshot of the booth and a few close-ups of our autumnal floral arrangements of dahlias, burning bush, zinnias, and maple.

A Baby Shower for Sassafras

Our dear friends Jessica and Chris are expecting their first baby in early January. We hosted a vegan baby shower, played a modified version of Scrabble (using only possible baby names and nicknames), and had an all around grand time. The chocolate buttercream cake above was AMAZING and made by Vegan Treats in Bethehem, PA - out of this world!!

Sweet Sacks for the Market

It's been a very full and fantastic week, but we always find time for creative play. This afternoon we made Sweet Sack Totes out of old t-shirts that we hand dyed and then painted and sewed into bags. Great market backs, trick-or-treat sacks, or whatever. Anyway, we had fun!

Misty Saturday Morning

Today was a beautiful cold, wet, misty and grey morning which provided a very dramatic backdrop to the incredibly vivid flowers that we brought inside (top) and then arranged (below) with Teddy's help for the Easton Farmers Market.

f&c NYC Sneak Peek

Ron and I spent yesterday afternoon installing the first wave of artwork we've curated for the new foley&cox showroom space in NYC. It's all still "in-progress" with more superb examples of antique furniture and contemporary art on the way, but, as a teaser, here's a gorgeous little corner with a photographic work by J.T. Kirkland.

Garden Update - End of Summer

I can't believe September is almost upon us! I've harvested our carrots, tomatoes, and amaranth the other day which made room for me to plant some mixed greens for a fall harvest. I've planted two varieties of chicory and several greens like Rocket and Mesclun...

Mercantile Home EASTON turns 1 year old!

WOW! Has it really been one year that Mercantile Home has been in Easton?!?! Time flies when you're having fun, eating lots of cake, and drinking a bottle or three of champagne. The Dobos Torte with Swiss Meringue Chocolate Icing I made was delicious (if I do say so myself)!
